Cosmetic Botox

Botox blocks signals from nerves to the muscles by freezing them. This causes the injected muscle to not contract, which helps minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort and it usually takes about 7 to 14 days to take on full effect. As muscle action slowly returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear in about 3 to 6 months. Botox will give you a refreshed and relaxed look.

Before your appointment: Tell your doctor if you’ve received any type of botulinum toxin injections within the past four months. And tell him or her if you take muscle relaxants, sleeping aids or allergy medications. If you take blood thinners, you may need to forgo them for several days before your injection, to reduce your risk of bleeding or bruising.
Aftercare: Botox patients can get back to their usual activities immediately after their appointments. Limitations are quite mild but you should avoid bending over or manipulating the treatment area for the remainder of the day in order to allow the product to settle evenly. You may also wish to skip your daily workout for the same reason, and avoid consuming any blood-thinning products, such as aspirin or alcohol, for a couple of days before and after the procedure for optimal results.
